The Four Seasons provides a garden-like setting
for enjoying the Adirondacks.
Earth laughs in flowers.
R. W. Emerson
The Garden was designed and planted by Mary
Hyla and has since matured into a thing of beauty. The story
is that the backyard of the lodge was a volley ball court, and noise
came through the back door. May decided to put an end to this
by planting an English style garden there. The result was
truly transforming, adding even more beauty to the Adirondacks"
natural glory and making the Four Seasons unique among cottage
communities. This theme is duplicated throughout the campus.
For example, every cottage has a small herb garden with sage, garlic
chives and oregano.
