Directions: South on Route 30 from Indian Lake Village for .6 miles to
Big Brook Rd, turn right and continue to end of the road at Kings Flow Trail.
Very simple trail, a little over a mile straight up the mountain.
As you can see there are wonderful views as your assent. Once you
reach the summit there are many trails and interesting rock formations to
explore. This is a great place for kids but keep an eye on them. Some
caves are only for experts. The picture on the hiking home page
was taken looking towards Blue Mountain from Chimney Mountain. As you can
see the summit offers great views.
This climb is especially interesting to those of us that are into rocks. The
rocks that make up the Chimney at the top are over 2.3 billion years
old and are what is left from mountains that reached over 6 miles high. The
rocks were originally created far under the surface of the earth and then
pushed up as plates crashed into each other.
