When you arrive on the 10th tee you will know that you are facing a very different challenge. Doug Sanders, when he played an exhibition here in the 1960s, sat on the end of his golf bag drinking a Bud and asked his caddie "if they knew what a chain saw was for up here? He was from Houston and they generally cut everything down.

The par 5 10th has the narrowest fairway you will probably ever play. The tee shot is best played from right to left. If you can really bust one, you can roll over a fairly sizeable hill and have a short iron to the green. But you must hit this shot to the extreme right. Otherwise you have a long shot to an elevated green completely surround by forest on 3 sides for your second shot. You are either on the green or you are in the woods. Or, you can play 2 7 irons and a wedge and have a shot at birdie or a two putt par.

The back nine is very scenic with major shifts in elevation, river and mountain views and green hilly fairways.  If you can hit the ball straight you can score.  The greens are easily accessible with few bunkers and are fairly flat.  Everything breaks to the Moose River which wanders along the right side of 11th-14th holes. The greens are usually wet so you can go for the pins.

The par 5 14th is a gem for shot makers.  The tee shot should move right to left, but the second shot favors a fade.  Long hitters can get home in 2 but have to fly the ball over the woods on both shots..  Average distant hitters can get home with a short iron on their third shot.  The 15th also offers a choice off the tee: a lay up to about 150 yards from the green or a long draw that will bring the ball to rest a short distance from the green. But the shot must be perfect. I think the course fizzles at the end with 2 straight, long, uphill par 4s.  With wet fairways and little roll, average length hitters are usually left with a long shot into both greens.  There is no risk reward for long hitters. Just bust it up the fairway.
