Paddling:

The Fulton Chain of Lakes is now part of the Northern Forest Canoe Trail (NFCT) which provides a paddling opportunity from Old Forge to Fort Kent, Maine. The NFCT  site has maps and trip planner for sale.Canoe and Kayaking Magazine had a feature article on the Trail which highlights Old Forge.  There are a number of outfitters who will teach, sell or take you on the rivers, you can even be picked up by a train.

Fishing:

NY DEC has a good overview of fishing in NY State as well as the Adirondacks.  They also tell us where they have stocked trout.  The put 8,350 in Fourth Lake, one could be yours. (we are in Herkimer County, Town of Webb)  Acid rain is still a factor, but due to legislation and court action, the problem is being reduced.

Hiking:

I will continue to update my hiking trail site, but for general info about hiking trails in the Adirondacks.

Camping.

The DEC also maintains campsite in the area. Some guests have part of their party stay on Alger Island. a short paddle from the Four Seasons.
