"Spend the afternoon. You can't take it with you.”  -Annie Dillard

The Waterfront is the heart of the Four Season Complex.

Waterfront at dawnIt features a great sandy beach, complementary paddle boats, kayaks and canoes plus docking facilities for your boat or jet ski.  The closest public boat launch is in Inlet.

The beach was created by bringing sand from the hill side to the lake.  A small wooden train track and car was built by George Burnap to move sand down the hill.  Since then the earthen dock catches the sand and preserves the beach.

The original dock was made by with huge hemlocks that grew beside the lake.  These were floated into the lake.  These logs were notched and interlaced  Lincoln log style to form a crib.  The cribbing was  then filled with stones.  This provided a foundation for the dock..  You can still see the logs under the docks.

Mr. Burnap did not use all the hemlocks.  There are some left which now provide shade by the beach.
