Adirondack Wild Flowers

Anne and I have only been investigating Adirondack wildflowers for 7 seasons.  We are learning.  If you have any pictures of wild flowers, or, know that we have not named the wildflowers correctly, let us know.  And, in some cases , we don't even know what the name of the flower.  Help please if you can.

I recognized most of the flowers from my youth growing up in Boonville, but never knew their names or their habitats.  Many of these North Country wild flowers can be found further south because the glaciers distributed the seed as far south as Pennsylvania.  Others varieties are common in other regions as well as the north country including the meadow at my ranch in Texas.  But many flourish only in  isolated regions of the north country.

We have separated the flowers by season (or month) in which they bloom, that is, when they bloom in the Adirondacks.  So you can see which flowers might be in bloom when you visit us.

If you have any pictures you want to share with us for inclusion into the Web site, just past them on.  If you want to know where the wildflowers are, or what is in bloom when you are at the Garbarino's Four Seasons, let us know and we will tell you what we know.

"Wilderness is a place where the wild potential is fully expressed, a diversity of living and non-living beings flourishing according to their own sorts of order...To speak of wilderness is to speak of wholeness.  Human beings came out of that wholeness, and to consider the possibility of reactivating membership in the Assembly of All Beings is in no way regressive."  Gary Snyder
