Adirondack Wild Flowers
Summer
Summer explodes in beauty in the Mountains You have to find old farms or
cleared areas if you want to see nature's summer gifts. Next to
the dumpster works. Drive to Turin if you are a golfer and play Turin
Highlands. There is an incredible array of meadow blossoms there.
Also look in forest clearings, the side of paths or walk along the road. There are a lot more to catalog
,so watch this page for updates.

Milkweed
Milkweed everywhere. An amazing plant with a great
smell when in bloom. That is why it is next to the dumpster. |
Pickerelweed
You can find these in calm or slow moving water.
These were found below the
beaver dam on Cary Lake. |
Wild
Foxglove Not sure this is
naturally wild or just survived from colonial gardens, but it is on the path
to the Tree House, for those of you who remember it before it burned.
|

There are fields of daisies for the whole month. |
Round-leaved Pyrola |
Bladderwort
|
Yarrow
Makes a great garden flower as well. I have it on the dock.
|
?I love this and will
find out what it is. |
Tall
Meadow Rue |
Cow
VetchAll over, so delicate, and
vibrant. |
Bladder Companion
You can find this in my rock garden in
the summer. Also look on the driveway going up the hill where there is
some daily sunshine. You have to look very carefully to
find it.
|
Water LilyFind these in
still water in Cary Pond or on the south side of Alger Island. I had
to wade in for this shot and then wait for the waters to calm.
