Adirondack Wild Flowers June

June brings summer.  The forest is completely covered by the summer canopy of leaves.  No more flowers in the woods.  The song birds now bring their color to the forest.  In summer, the meadow flowers are nature's gift.

Daisy

There are fields of daisies for the whole month.  My dock and rock garden are full of them in June.

Indian Paintbrush

That is what my mother called these. They, like the daisy, are meadow flowers, which is typical of late spring and early June flowers.  These always were my indication that the long winter had ended and we could bask in the sun of summer.

Lady's Slipper

Danielle, my granddaughter,  saw these on the way to Bald Mountain in mid June.  They are beautiful, and only last a short while. I believe they are in the orchid family.

'Don't know what these are, but they are rampant in shady lawns.  I transplant them into beds where they make a great border plant. Here they surround  Hostas.  Most people consider them weeds.  I will continue to transplant them into border areas of my flower beds.
